The SEAT 600 (Seiscientos, also nicknamed
pelotilla, seílla or seíta) was a Spanish car made by SEAT
from 1957 to 1973. It was not the first car of the Spanish company Seat.
The Seat 600 helped to start the economic recovery (called the Spanish
Miracle) after the hard years following the Spanish Civil War. When the
Seat 600 appeared, cars were no longer a luxury only for rich people,
now the middle class families could have a car. In the 60s it became a
symbol of Spain's industrial development: everybody wanted to have one,
even though its price was equivalent to some 24,000 € today. |
